ABOUT US

Commercial Technical Electrical Services, or Commtechelec for short, was founded in 2014.  We are a service, installation and maintenance provider for all types of building automation, mechanical services, and other commercial building related technology.  We support both Melbourne CBD, outer suburbs, and regional Victoria.

Don't let our size fool you!  We might be small, but that allows us to maintain our high standards.  Commtechelec is over a decade old, but draws on a combined 40+ years of industrial and commercial electrical and control system experience.  This, combined with true product independence, a higher focus on customer service, and a strong commitment on safety makes us the best choice for your property or project.

Commtechelec is a registered company and a registered electrical contractor (REC 23420).

SERVICES

First and foremost, we are different from so many of our competitors, in that we offer every component of a building automation project, from design and electrical installation, to engineering, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance.  We never use sub-contractors to install our product or connect our wires.  What does this mean for you?....

  • Cheaper project costs - no markup on subbies, and flexible rates depending on the role

  • Fewer issues at commissioning - we prevent the mistakes that subbies can cause

  • Better control of quality of install

  • Ownership of all parts of the project - no blame shifting

We can provide you with a large number of technical commercial property services, including...

  • LON or BACnet automation systems (Smart or EasyIO)

  • Tridium N4 and AX systems

  • Innotech (OMNI/MAXIM) proprietary systems

  • Hevac and SmartTemp stand-alone controls

  • EDAC alarm diallers

  • DALI lighting systems

NEWS

We have begun to explore the endless possibilities of LoRaWAN technology (Long Range Wide Area Network).

This technology allows devices, such as temperature sensors, to communicate their status and feedback via a long-range radio network back to a gateway.  The gateway then acts as a BACnet server, converting the data into standard BACnet objects that a Tridium JACE can read and report.  The sensors are completely wireless, operating on batteries that last between 1-3 years (depending on frequency of data update).  Communication distances are specified in the several kilometer range, although we are yet to test the extremes of this!

We've begun testing the Milesight range of LoRaWAN products, which offer temperature and humidity sensors, water leak detectors, tank level sensors, pulse counters, door status and room occupancy... the product range is enormous!

Although we don't expect hard-wired field devices to ever be replaced with devices such as those with LoRaWAN technology, it does provide us with alternatives and options when an installation is difficult, such as remote water/gas meters, or heritage listed spaces.
